Desiccated Coconut high fat is produced from matured coconuts and the white coconut meat is granulated into various desired cuts and then dried to remove as much moisture as possible and is available as fine and Medium grades.
Only the best and fresh quality coconut meats which are selected carefully are used to produce highest quality Desiccated Coconut. It usually contains about 3% of moisture. A good quality DC should be white in color, reasonably free from yellow specks, black spots and other discolorations. It should have the natural sweet aroma of coconut, mild characteristic of coconut without rancid and even particle size distribution.
Sri Lankan DC has fetched a tremendous demand all over the world due to the unique characteristic such as pure whiteness in color, taste and aroma. It is identified as one of the finest product frequently used in the food processing and confectionery industries all over the world.
Desiccated Coconut is used commonly in various industries like confectionery and bakery products, frozen foods, food service and consumer products.
This is grated desiccated coconut of which not less than 80% of the weight shall pass easily through a sieve of square aperture size of 1.40 mm, but of which maximum 20% of the weight passes through a sieve of 0.71 mm square aperture size.
This is grated desiccated coconut of which not less than 90% of the weight shall pass easily through a sieve of square aperture size of 2.80 mm, but of which maximum 20% of the weight passes through a sieve of 1.40 mm square aperture size.
Desiccated Coconut is packed in multi-ply kraft paper bags with inner sealed polythene to keep away from the atmosphere’s moisture. Desiccated Coconuts are packed in 10 kg, 25 kg or 50 kg as per buyer’s packing requirements. Desiccated Coconut shall be stored in cool and dry place. Direct sunlight and strong odor should be completely avoided.
